How a Bball Destiny career works

You create a 16-year-old prospect, then play one season at a time. Each season puts decisions in front of you, and the engine settles them off your ratings and a roll of the dice. At 19 you become draft-eligible. From there, contracts and title runs decide how far the career goes before you retire.

Create your player

Setup asks five things: nationality, position, build, jersey number and name. Nationality sets where you play at 16.

Starts in a US high school
United States, Canada, and Australia
Starts in a European minor league
France, Germany, and Serbia

Position opens its builds. The game has 25 in all, and 10 of them stay locked until one of your careers earns them. Each locked build names its condition, and the full list sits under the legacy ladder below.

Only a name you type can enter the Hall of Fame. Leave the field empty and the game names your player for you, and that career stays off the public boards.

Before the draft

A US high school prospect reaches the first crossroads at 17: a college program, the G League or a contract in Europe. College means NCAA seasons played in halves and a shot at March Madness. A European prospect starts in a minor league and climbs from there.

Every season before the draft moves your projection: Lottery pick, First round, Second round or Undrafted. Between 19 and 22 you pick the year you declare. The combine comes first, four days in Chicago in front of all thirty front offices, then draft night in June.

Decisions and risk

Every event gives you two to four responses. Each one carries a risk word, read off the odds your own player faces on that choice, so the same response can read Safe for one build and Risky for another.

Safe
At most one outcome in eight goes clearly wrong.
Balanced
Between one in eight and three in ten outcomes go clearly wrong.
Risky
Three outcomes in ten or more go clearly wrong.
Long shot
More than half the outcomes go wrong, and one of them can change the career.

Contracts

Draft night sets your first deal. A first-round pick signs the rookie scale, a 2+2 contract whose salary follows the slot: $13.8M a year at pick 1, $2.42M at pick 30. A second-round pick gets the rookie minimum of $1.27M, when he gets a standard contract at all.

After that the market pays by role. The NBA bands, per year:

Your own club offers the extensions, and only your own club can go to five years. When a deal runs out you hit free agency, and a trade can move you in the middle of a season without asking you first.

Reach the Hall of Fame rung once and the difficulty setting opens.

Rematch and difficulty

Rematch replays a finished career with the same prospect: nationality, position, build, number, name and difficulty carry over, and the dice start fresh. The career you replay becomes the target, and the end screen tells you whether you beat it.

Difficulty climbs in notches from the base setting, Normal. Each notch adds one rule to the ones before it.

The trophy case keeps every finished career, the names your careers earned, your badges and a grid of your best ending with each build at each notch. It lives in this browser, and a link inside it carries everything to another device.

Common questions

How do I get into the Hall of Fame in Bball Destiny?

Type a name at setup and finish the career: the card goes to the public Hall of Fame when you retire. Four boards rank the seats by score, rings, points per game and peak OVR. Each name holds one seat, and a new career under the same name takes it only when it scores higher. An unnamed career can't enter.

How do I unlock new builds?

Each locked build shows its condition at setup, such as reaching NBA All-Star or winning an MVP in any career. Meet it once and the build stays open for good. The full list is under the legacy ladder above.

Can I play college basketball?

Yes. A US high school prospect can pick a college program at 17, play NCAA seasons and March Madness, and declare for the draft from campus.

What happens if I close the tab?

Your career saves in this browser as you play. Come back on the same browser and pick it up where you left it. Clearing the site's data, switching browsers or private browsing loses the save.
