Bball Destiny

Career cards, holos and the binder

Every finished career leaves a card. Its rarity comes from your rung, its holo from luck alone, and where it is kept depends on whether you play with an account. Below: how the card is made, the holo odds, what the device keeps, and the binder's rules.

At retirement the game deals your card face down and you turn it over. The fill says the rarity, and the rarity comes from the rung your career reached: Common, Rare for an NBA All-Star, Epic for the Hall of Fame, Legendary for the GOAT.

The card travels by link: /c/ followed by a token that holds the name, the rung, the peak OVR and the career line. Anyone who opens the link sees the card and the career behind it, and the link's preview image is the same card.

The rungs and their bars, on the legacy ladder page

About 1 finished career in 15 prints its card in holo: a glitter print over the fill, whatever the rung. A holo Common exists, and so does a holo GOAT, about 1 career in 1500.

The roll is pure luck, fixed the moment the career starts and read off the run's own seed. Nothing you do during the career changes it, no number of careers makes the next one more likely, and no holo is for sale.

At the reveal, the card lands to the choir instead of the crowd and the light runs across it once. Every card tilts under the pointer or a finger; a holo glitters as it moves. The holo set in your trophy case has one slot per rarity.

Without an account, your device keeps your last 10 finished careers with their final page: open one from the trophy case to read it again or share it again. When an eleventh career ends, the oldest goes. A career set aside mid-season takes no slot and resumes where you left it.

Clearing the site's data, or a school computer wiped overnight, erases these careers. The trophy case counters survive through the profile link. The careers go with the data.

With an account, every finished career is filed in your binder on the server, up to 50 cards, with the career behind each one. Open the binder from the trophy case on any device where you are signed in.

When the binder is full, the next card pushes out the oldest card that is neither protected nor showcased. Protect a card and it never drops. If all 50 are protected, the new card stays on the device until you unprotect one.

Showcase up to 3 cards: they sit first in your binder and never drop. Throw a card away and its career goes with it.

The first time you open the binder signed in, the careers your device holds are carried over. The device keeps its 10 either way, so the binder shows your cards even when the server does not answer.

The store app keeps the device's 10 careers and has no account yet; accounts and the binder reach it in a later version.

How do you get a holo card in Bball Destiny?

By finishing careers. About 1 in 15 prints its card in holo, whatever the rung, and the roll is fixed the moment the career starts.

Does a holo card change the game?

No. It is a finish on the card: the choir at the reveal, the glitter under your finger, a slot in the holo set and a counter in the trophy case. Ratings, awards and the ladder never read it.

Can you buy holo cards?

No. Holos come from luck alone and are never for sale.

What happens when the binder is full?

The next card replaces the oldest card that is neither protected nor showcased. Protect the cards you keep for good.

Do I lose my cards if I clear my browser?

Without an account, yes: the device's 10 careers go with the site's data. With an account, the binder keeps up to 50 cards on the server.
