When can you declare for the draft?
Early in every season from 19 to 22, as long as you play outside the NBA and have never been through a draft night, the game asks whether you declare. There are three answers.
- Declare now
- The pre-draft workouts come first: a good week adds 8 to your stock, a bad one takes 8 away. A good week starts at 44 chances in 100, and your form and a luck draw tilt that either way. Draft night follows at once.
- Wait one more year
- You stay where you are, and the question comes back next season.
- Choose the EuroLeague first
- You move to a EuroLeague club next season and keep your eligibility: the question comes back every season before 22, and at 22 you enter the draft automatically.
At 22 there is no more waiting: you enter the draft automatically. You can protect your stock, which leaves it as it is, or work out for every team: 56 times in 100 that adds 9 to your stock, otherwise it costs 8.

The combine
The combine comes once, early in a season between 19 and 22, while you are eligible and have not declared yet. Declare before it happens and you skip it.
You choose between playing the scrimmages and doing interviews and measurements only. The scrimmages are the bigger swing for your reputation, up or down, and the interviews are the safer bet. Either way, 9 times in 100 before your form tilts it, the doctors flag something and your injury risk goes up, which the scouts price in.

What moves your draft stock?
Your draft stock is the score the scouts keep on you, and the career screen reads it as your projection. It moves all the time and adds up these parts:

A college player also carries the March Madness run, as long as the most recent season was a college season. A long run moves you up the board, and missing the tournament costs a little.

Two moments move the stock directly: the workouts when you declare (plus or minus 8) and, at 22, the workouts for every team (plus 9 or minus 8). Everything else moves it through your ratings and your season.

How does stock become a pick?
The board turns stock into a slot. A stock of 178 or more is the first pick, and below 118 your name is off the board. In between, the slots spread evenly between the anchors below. Picks 1 to 14 read as a lottery pick, 15 to 30 as first round and 31 to 60 as second round.

What happens on draft night?
Draft night moves your board slot up to 6 places earlier or 5 places later. A slide past pick 60 leaves you undrafted, and nobody slides above the first pick.
Your record before the draft leans the slide. Every graded season before draft night counts, in any league, and the total is capped at 12 either way. Above -5, the slide leans toward an earlier pick. Below it, toward a later one.

Off the board, a team still takes a flyer 18 times in 100, somewhere between picks 50 and 60.
What does a rookie contract pay?
Once drafted, you finish the season where you are, then join a random NBA team. First-round picks sign for 4 years and second-round picks for 2, on the rookie scale below. The slot also sets your role: picks 1 to 5 start as starters, 6 to 14 in the rotation, and everyone after as a prospect.

What happens if you go undrafted?
If no team calls your name, the market opens that same night: you sign right away and play the season in your new league. These doors can be on the table:
- G League
- Always offers a one-season prospect deal.
- European minor league
- A European club always makes an offer.
- Two-way NBA deal
- $560K for one season, offered only if you were on the board and slid off it on draft night.
- EuroLeague
- Calls when your European standing reaches 132: talent plus reputation, plus 20 for players from France, Germany, and Serbia.
